How to Handle “Falling off Track”

LET’S BE HONEST… FALLING OFF TRACK HAPPENS TO ALL OF US.

YUP, even me. 🙋‍♀️ And honestly, I’ve fallen off track way more than once.
Even with a balanced lifestyle, sometimes we indulge a little too much and end up completely derailed.
But you know what?
IT’S OKAY!
...I promise!

Now that you’ve accepted that falling off track is a totally normal part of the journey and happens to all of us  -- what are you going to do about it?

HERE’S WHAT I RECOMMEND…

  1. DO NOT, I REPEAT… DO NOT SPEND TIME LINGERING ON IT

It honestly doesn’t matter what you did yesterday, last month or 20 minutes ago, just get back on the wagon and forget about the past.  I know that’s way easier said than done, but you can’t move on if you’re lingering on it… obsessing… feeling guilty… trying to deprive yourself to make up for it.

    DON’T.

Just accept it, move on, and get back on track. TODAY… not tomorrow, not Monday. Todayyy and RIGHT NOW!

  2. RECONNECT AND REALIGN

Reconnect with your “why”... meaning, reconnect with the reasons you’re trying to get healthy or fit (or whatever your goal is) in the first place.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a small reason -- such as simply wanting to look good in a bikini Or a bigger reason -- like trying to lose weight to help your health or maybe multiple reasons...

It’s time to reconnect and realign with what it takes to get there!

Think about how bad you want to reach your goals.
Think about what it would mean to reach your goals.
Think about how you’d feel if you didn’t reach your goals.

If somehow your daily actions are not in alignment with the goals that you’re trying to meet -- realign and start doing what it takes!

  3. MOTIVATION AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Honestly, motivation is something that comes and goes.

Sometimes we are on top of our workouts and nutrition every single day.Sometimes the only thing we’re motivated to do is sit on the couch and eat chips.

If you rely on motivation to keep you going, you’re going to let yourself down because let’s be honest… when are really that motivated.

There are so many ways to help find motivation again (which I went over in a previous blog -- click here to read)... but when that isn’t working, you have to stay disciplined and hold yourself accountable.

And if you’re having a hard time holding yourself accountable, find someone who will!

While it’s totally OK to have “off days” and to fall off track from time-to-time... you HAVE to learn to get back on the wagon and recommit to your goals.

  4. STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS

This is something that is SO hard to do.

With social media and all that comes with it, it’s hard NOT to compare yourself to others.
Sometimes we do it without even realizing that we’re doing it.

We scroll through IG and in minutes our brains are overloaded with hundreds of “perfect” people, bodies, and lives.
    OUCH.

Yeah, it sucks and I’m sure we’ve ALL fallen into that trap before.

But STOP comparing yourself.  You aren’t doing yourself ANY favors by doing this.

All you’re doing is feeding your insecurities and guilt.  Which is going to keep you off the wagon even longer.

MINDSET is such a huge part of finding success and reaching your goals.

Get off IG for a day while you practice everything I mentioned above, and girl, GET. BACK. ON. TRACK.

    You can do it  ❤️

    xoxo Elise
